On Friday the 24th of July 2009, HSC Shinas celebrated her first anniversary of service sailing from Muscat to Khasab. The Journey was made all more special as she carried 181 passengers which exceed all previous crossings.
The event was celebrated in fine style by NFC staff & crew at the Golden Tulip resort hotel – Khasab, announcing the beginning of new era in the history of the Omani Maritime transport coinciding with the country’s celebrations of the Renaissance day which contributes in providing maritime transport service for passengers, merchandise and vehicles in addition to revitalize internal tourism.
Mr. Mahdi Mohammed Al Abduwani – Chairman of the board of National Ferries Company emphasized the importance of putting more effort and work to ensure continuous improvement of the standard of services presented to all customers on board the ferries. Meanwhile – Mehdi - valued the huge efforts and endeavors of all company employees to reach this point. During the celebration some crew members where honored for their excellent service during the past year. This success has been attributed to the cooperation between the National Ferries Company and all parties who have provided the required support to enhance the company’s mission to succeed.
It is worthwhile mentioning that the ferry Shinas left Khasab port on Friday 24th July 2009 with 181 passengers on board (highest number recorded so far). However, the increasing number of passengers shows their trust in the distinguished services of National Ferries Company. During the journey a contest of painting & coloring was carried out for the children as a gesture from the company to develop children’s abilities and show their talent by utilizing the time of the journey with what is useful. The victorious child was awarded a prize & all other children were given small gifts for their efforts. To further celebrate the occasion of the first anniversary the two ferries Shinas & Hormuz met half way on route. In a rare event where Hormuz manoeuvred 360dgree around Shinas, blowing horns and saluting each other. All crew members and the passengers took part in this event to highlight the importance of the occasion.
Mehdi - the chairman of the board of the company stated that in the near future the passengers will experience surprises on board both the ferries and added that the National Ferries Company is blessed with the kind attention and follow up of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed as the company is one of the outcomes of our blessed renaissance .The company takes this opportunity to present its warmest facilitations and greetings to his Majesty the Sultan.
